David D. Weaver Elected as Vice President-Research of Adams of Express

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- JANUARY 22, 2007 - David D. Weaver, CFA, has been elected Vice President-Research for The Adams Express Company (NYSE:ADX), effective January 1, 2007.

Mr. Weaver joined Adams Express as a research analyst in May 2004 and covers the industrials and consumer discretionary sectors for the Fund. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Weaver was an analyst for 7 years with Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. in Baltimore, covering the home building and building materials sectors.

Mr. Weaver received his undergraduate degree from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) and a M.S. degree in Business/Finance from The Johns Hopkins University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Baltimore Security Analysts Society.

The Adams Express Company is a Baltimore-based closed-end investment company. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange and its symbol is ADX.
